Japan beat Australia to win the 4th Asian Cup title

Japan made a record of winning the fourth Asian Cup title after beating Australia by 1-0 in the final match of the Asian Cup 2011. With this victory, they have also regained their Asian Cup trophy 6 years after. They won their last title in 2004.

The substitute Tadanari Lee was emerged as the hero of Japan’s Asian Cup 2011 final match victory. He scored the match winning goal on extra time. He scored the goal in the 109th minute. Thanks to his brilliance goal, Japan could defeat the valiant Australia and broke the record. They are the only team who won the sub-continental football title for the fourth team. Until now, neither of the teams could win the title more than three times.

Other two teams that won the titles three times are Saudi Arabia and Iran. It will be interesting to see that if any of them can touch Japan’s record of record of winning fourth Asian Cup title.

Now, fans will be watching to see how long they can hold the trophy.

The most interesting thing is that neither Japan nor Australia was tagged as hot favorite for the final match. Both teams had equal chance to beat each other.

However, the result of the match was finalized on extra minute and both teams didn’t have to look for penalty shootout.

Australia vs Japan Final Match: Asian Cup 2011

The AFC Asian Cup 2011 is coming to an end with the final match between Japan and Australia that is scheduled to be held on 29 January 2011. These two teams will take on each other at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha. Fans of both teams can watch this match live on 18:00 local time (15:00 GMT).

It is going to be the second meeting for both Japan and Australia at the sub-continental football tournament. Australia faced Japan four years ago when they made their first appearance in the Asian Cup tournament and was beaten by Japan in the quarter-final round. Japan defeated them in the penalty shootout and moved into the semi-final round.

So, the match against Japan is going to be a big opportunity for Australia to take revenge for their defeat in the last edition in 2007. However, this time, both teams will be seen competing against each other for title.

Japan ensured their place in the final round after defeating the strong look South Korea on penalty shootout. They had to face tough challenge when they took on Korea. However, fans could see an exciting and nail biting match between them.

On the other hand, Australia got an easy victory against Uzbekistan in another semi-final match. The Socceroos bet the Uzbeks by 6-0. Despite their huge victory in the semi-final round, it will not make any big difference between the two finalist teams.

Injury will be a big problem for Japan as their key player, Shinji Kagawa, cannot play in the final match due to his leg injury. He fractured his metatarsal during the semi-final match against South Korea.

At first, it was thought that his injury was not big and he could join the club to play against Australia in the final match. However, scan showed that the 21-year-old player broken a metatarsal bone in his right foot. So, he will stay out when his team will fight for the trophy.

No doubt, it has come as a big blow for Japan coach, Alberto Zaccheroni. He should find a suitable player to replace him for the post.

Shinji Kagawa has great contribution behind Japan’s achievement to play in the final as he scored an important goal in Japan’s 3-2 win over Qatar and played well in the semi-final match over Korea.

Shinji Kagawa is a star player in the German football club, Borussia Dortmund. He has the possibility to move to English football club Manchester United. But it seems that his injury will delay his move to Europe.

Japan’s goalkeeper, Eiji Kawashima, will be the main attraction of Saturday’s match. His heroic effort in the semi-final match helped Japan to move into the final round. He saved two penalties against South Korea. So, opponent team will have to struggle hard to score a goal against Japan.

Japan is hoping to make a record of winning their fourth Asian Cup title this year. Before that, they won the title in 1992, 2000 and 2004.

Australia wants to win the trophy for the first time since making their appearance in the Asian Cup.

No doubt, it will be a tough game between these two teams. Let’s see who will win the match.

ESPN STAR Sports will broadcast this match live. If you are the citizen of Australia then you can watch it on Fox Sports.

Vadim Abramov is confident about his team’s success against Australia in the Asian Cup semi-final

It seems that Uzbekistan coach, Vadim Abramov, is confident ahead of their semi-final match against Australia in the Asian Cup 2011. In his observation, Australia is good but not as strong as like Brazil. He hopes that his team can beat Australia and make their place into the final round.

However, beating Australia will not be an easy task for Uzbekistan. Australia is much stronger football team compared to Uzbekistan. They have been tagged as hot favorite while Uzbekistan will go to the match as underdog.

Though Uzbekistan is not a favorite team, fans are expecting to see them fighting hard against Australia. Uzbekistan has showed very good form in the group stage and until now they are undefeated. Now, they will face a tough challenge to keep their unbeaten form. They have the experience of being beaten by Australia twice in qualifying for the 2010 World Cup.

Vadim Abramov thinks that both teams have equal chance to win the match. Captain Odil Ahmedov is hopeful about his team’s final berth.

For the second time, Australia is taking part in this sub-continental football tournament and it is their first time they are playing against each other in the Asian Cup semifinals. Australia’s coach, Holger Osieck, says that his players are not feeling any pressure but they are excited for the match.

Uzbekistan will take on Australian on 25 January 2011 at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha. It will start at 19:25 local time (16:25 GMT).

With the hope of defending their title for the second time, Iraq will face Australia on 22 January 2011 at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium in Doha. This exciting match will begin at 16:25 local time (13:25 GMT).
You can find livescore of the match here: http://www.livescore.com/
It is expected to be an exciting match between these two strong teams. For both teams, it is a “do or die” match. So, they will have to fight for victory to ensue their place in the semi-final round. Facing Australia will be a difficult task for Iraq to hold their title. Millions of fans will be eagerly waiting to see if Iraq can move into the last four after defeating Australia. It is a million dollar question.
On pen and paper, Australia looks much stronger compared to Iraq. They will be the hot favorite team on Saturday’s game against Iraq. They are also considered as one of the strongest teams to win the title this time. However, Australia is yet to get the taste of the AFC Asian Cup trophy. It seems that they will win the trophy this time.
Australia finished their group stage as a top finisher with 7 points from 3 matches. Their two victories came against India and Bahrain by 4-0 and 1-0 respectively while the result of the match against South Korea was 1-1 draw. In group competition, they scored 6 goals and conceded only one. It is really impressive performance.
On the other hand, Iraq moved into the quarter-final round as runners-up from group D. Playing three matches, they scored 6 points with two victories and one lose. Their performance in the group round was not satisfactory as they could score only three goals and allowed their opponent to score two goals. These two goals came from Iran who beat them by 2-1.
Australia should want to take revenge for their 3-1 defeat at the hand of Iraq four years ago in a group game in Bangkok. It was their first appearance at the sub-continental competition. Despite their heavy defeat in the group competition, they could be able to ensure their place in the quarter-final round where they were beaten by Japan in a penalty shootout after the match was finished with 1-1 draw. Australian captain, Lucas Neill, who was the part of the team in 2007, told that facing Iraq will not be an easy task.
Iraq will try to get some inspiration from their previous victory against Australia. They should want to continue their winning strike against the non-host nation.
The injury of striker, Tim Cahill, will be the main cause of concern. Australian coach wants his service badly in the game against Iraq. Tim Cahill’s participation in the match is still not sure. The good news for Australian team is that he is recovering from thigh injury that he sustained in a match against Bahrain. At the end, Australia won the match by 1-0.
Two other Australian players, David Carney and Luke Wilkshire, are also struggling hard to get recover from injury. They picked up groin and shoulder injuries respectively in the draw match against South Korea. Because of their injuries they could not take part in the match against Bahrain.
Australian goalkeeper, Mark Schwarzer, and Defensive Midfielder, Mile Jedinak, will be the main attraction of tomorrow’s game. Mark Schwarzer has the history of saving curial penalties. So far, he has conceded only one goal that came against Bahrain in a 1-1 draw match. Mile Jedinak scored two goals in the group stage.
Younus Mahmood and Mohmmed Kassid are expected to show their best game against Australia in a crucial game.
In Australia, Fox Sports will broadcast this match live. Most of the Asian countries can watch the match live on ESPN STAR Sports.

Qatar will face Japan on a crucial quarter-final match

The match between Japan and Qatar is going to be the first match in the quarter-final round of the AFC Asian Cup 2011. Host Qatar will take on Japan on 21st January 2011. It will start at 16:25 local time (13:25 GMT). The match will be played at the Al-Gharafa Stadium in Doha.

Fans of both teams are now excited about the match. For both Japan and Qatar, it is a “do or die” match. So, they will try their best to win the match at any cost. Losing in the knock out stage means that defeated team will not get anymore chance to get into the semi-final round.

Obviously Japan is the hot favorite team in this match. Even, they are considered one of the strongest teams who can win the title this year. But it will not be a good thing if they take Qatar lightly or underestimate them.

Though Qatar started their Asian Cup campaign with a 2-0 defeat against Uzbekistan, they made their unthinkable return with two back-to-back victories over China PR and Kuwait by 2-0 and 3-0 respectively.

When Qatar lost their first game to Uzbekistan, many fans thought that the host team would see their early exit from the competition. However, at the end, they could be able to survive their position in the quarter-final round. Now, home fans will be eagerly waiting to see if their national football team can proceed further.

The 22-year-old Yusef Ahmed will be the main attraction of this game. Scoring two goals, he led his team to get a victory against strong look China.

Japan is also taking hard preparation ahead of their quarter-final match. They look much stronger than the host team. Even, their performance at the group round was much better compared to Qatar. So, they have the highest possibility to win the match on Friday. However, nothing can be said before as it is the game of football.

Fans should not miss the chance to see the match live on TV. ESPN STAR Sports has got the right to broadcast all Asian Cup 2011 matches. If you are living in a South Asian country then you can watch the match live on this TV channel.

Teams: South Korea vs India

Group: C

Time: 16:15 local time, 13:15 GMT

Venue: Al Gharafa Stadium

Park Ji-sung is not sure about his participation in his team’s last group match against India. It seems that South Korea will have to play without their key player. Because of his absence, other players will have to handle the pressure. The Manchester United player is now suffering from toothace. So, thereis hardly any possibility to see him to play against India.

Fans will be eagerly waiting to see who will replace him in the squad. However, coach, Cho Kwang-rae, will be hoping that the experienced winger will be recoverd soon from toothache and lead his team. The 29-year-old player is the captain of South Korean national team. South Korea needs his serivce badly to secure their place in the quarter-finals.

South Korea will have to win the match if they want to play in the quarter-final round. If they draw the match against India then their luck to play in the second round will largely depend on Australia vs Bahrain match. No doubt, will be put under huge pressure. However, South Korean coach is optimistic about his team’s performance against the weak opponent India.

India has failed to get any victory in their previous two matches and become the first team to be left out from Group C. They received a thumping defeat at the hand of Australia by 4-0 and Bahrain by 5-2. So, Indian coach, Bob Houghton, wants his team to give their best in their last game at the AFC Asian Cup. India made their entrace in the sub-continental football tournament after 47 years. As their AFC Asian Cup campaign is coming to an end, they should want to make it memorable by getting a shocking victory over South Korea.

In Group C pointa table, South Korea is now in second position after Australia. In their two matches, they have got 4 points. They defeated Bahrain by 2-1 and their match against Australia finished with 1-1 draw. To avoid clash with Iran in the knock out stage, they should want to win the match and be a Group winner. South Korea played well to reach in the AFC Asian Cup Finals and they are considered to be one of the strongest teams to win the title in Qatar.

Their squad looks much stronger as many of their players are playin in different European football clubs. Captain Park Ji-Sung currently plays for the English club Manchester United. Lee Chung-Yong is playing in Bolton Wanderers while Ki Sung-Yueng and Cha Du-Ri play in Celtic. Son Heung-Min plays in Hamburg. However, young player, Koo Ja-Cheol, will be the main attraction of today’s match as he has scored two goals, one in each match, so far.

It is thought that captain, Bhaichung Bhutia, will play in today’s match against Korea despite suffering from injury. Coach, Bob Houghton, may bring some more changes in the squad. The good news for Indian fans is that two strikers, Abhishek Yadav and Sunil Chettri, will be playing in this game. Because of their punishment, they could not play in the first two matches against Australia and Bahrain. Their inclusion will increase India’s strenght in the midfield.

This match will be shown live on ESPN STAR Sports. South Asain people can see this match live on this channel.
