The
English Premier League football club, Manchester City, has been fined £50m and restricted
their squad from 25 to 21 in the Champions League after being found guilty of
breaching UEFA’s financial fair play rules. However, the fine and conditions imposed
on the club has not been confirmed yet. It may be confirmed by the end of the
week or early next week.
However,
Manchester City has decided to appeal against the case which will be
handed to a panel whose non-negotiable decision will be final. There is a high
risk of facing even stiffer penalties from the CFCB’s adjudicatory panel if the
panel does not agree with this decision.
The
English Premier League club will have to face a tough challenge due to the
reduction of their Champions League squad. However, it seems that it will not
be a very big problem because Manchester City has ensured that in their squad
they have eight locally-trained players.
