‘Zindagi Na Milegi
Dobara’ and ‘Rockstar’ got the most
number of awards at the 13th International Indian Film Academy
(IIFA) awards on Sunday. Each of the films won four awards in different
categories.
Zoya Akhtar directed Zindagi
Na Milegi Dobara won awards
for Best Film, Best Story, Best Supporting Actor and Best Actor categories. On
the other hand, Imtiaz Ali directed Rockstar
for awards for Best Actor, Best Music Director, Best Lyrics and Best
Playback Singer.
It was not easy for Ranbir Kapoor, who played the role of a
hopeful singer in Rockstar, to get
the award as he was nominated along with the top actors like Amitabh Bachchan,
Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan. Ranbir had to beat them to win
the title.
Farhan Akhtar won the Best Supporting Actor award for his
performance in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. Zoya
Akhtar got the Best Director award for the same film. However, Best Music
Direction award went to AR Rahman.
Mohit Chauhan got the Best Playback Singer in male category
for ‘Nadaan Parindey’ while Shreya Ghoshal got the award for Best Playback
Singer female for her song ‘Teri Meri’ from the film ‘Bodyguard’.
Vidya Balan got the award for Best Actress for her
performance in ‘The Dirty Picture’.
Parineeti Chopra won two awards for Best Debut Female and
Best Supporting Actress for Ladies V/s
Ricky Bahl. Actor Vidyut Jamwal picked up the award for Best Debut male for
his performance in ‘Force’.
