Spain hopes to match Germany’s record of three European Championship titles

There is no doubt that the final match between Spain and Italy in Euro 2012 is going to be a historic one. It will be played on 1 July (Sunday) at the Olympic Stadium in Kiev.
Both Spain and Italy are going to face each other for the second time in the tournament. They met against each other in their opening match of the tournament’s group stage which was ended in 1-1 draw.
Spain is the defending champion and they will try their best to defend the title. If they can defend the title once again then it will be their third straight major title victory after Euro 2008 and World Cup 2010. It will also help them match Germany’s record of three European Championship titles and cementing their place as one of the greatest national teams.
No doubt, Italy will face a tough challenge from buoyant Spain. Spain has a very good record in Euro. Spain hasn’t lost in a European Championship since 2004. They have already matched West Germany as the only defending champion to return to the final after winning the World Cup. But Spain’s performance against Italy in a competitive match is not good.
It is sure that Spain will be marked as the most favorite team to win the title. But it does not mean that Italy is a weak opponent. There is no doubt that fans can enjoy an exciting match.
