It is perhaps interesting
to see that the teams who started their campaign against each other in group
stage in Euro 2012 will be seen again facing each other in the final match of
the tournament.
Both Spain and Italy were included in group C and they played their
first game on 10 June which was ended in 1-1 draw. Now, these two Mediterranean
rivals will be competing against each other in the final round for the title.
No doubt, both teams will
try their best to win the title. It is hard to predict who can win the title. It
is the best opportunity for La Roja to make a new record. If they can win the
final match then they will become the first team to win three major tournaments
after their victories at Euro 2008 and the 2010 World Cup.
Italy will also play their best game to make an upset for Spain. They won the European Championship once before in
1968. They should do everything to stop their rival team and make a history. Their
last tournament success came in 2006 when they won the World Cup.
It is going to be their 31st
time meeting in the football history out of which Italy has won 10 matches while Spain has won eight matches and 12 matches have ended
without any result.
When it comes to major
tournaments, Italy remains unbeaten against Spain with three wins and four draws. Italy was lost to Spain in the quarter-finals of Euro 2008 by penalty
shoot-out. But FIFA does not count penalty shoot-out matches as defeats or wins
for teams. Now, fans will be eagerly waiting to see if Spain can beat Italy in any major tournament.
The strength of the Spain football team is their strong defense. On the
other hand, Italy has good strikers like Mario Balotelli. Now, let’s see if Italian
strikers can make score against the opponent team.
