Mohammad Hafeez has been
named Pakistan’s new T20 captain for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka. He has expressed his happiness for the
combination of his team which will face the host nation. He said that he is
banking on senior players to get their service in the forthcoming series.
Besides announcing the new
T20 captain earlier in May, the selection committee also brought a lot of change
in the Pakistan cricket team for the shortest version of the game.
Selectors have included a number of uncapped players in the Pakistan squad keeping in mind the upcoming T20 World Cup
2012 that will be played in Sri Lanka.
This opportunity will give
the young players to prove their worthy in the international level. It seems
that selection committee wants to use as many youngsters as possible. That is
why, Shakeel Ansar, Raza Hasan and Haris Sohail and some of the discarded
players like Khalid Latif, Ahmed Shahzad, Yasir Arafat and Sohail Tanvir have
been included in the T20 squad.
Mohammad Hafeez expressed
that he is lucky because he has been assured of having the services of some
senior players when he is needed.
Hafeez will be under huge
pressure when he will lead his team against Sri Lanka for the first time. It is the time to see if he
can handle the pressure of leadership in international cricket.
