Angelo Mathews has been left out of the Asia Cup squad

Sri Lankan all-rounder, Angelo Mathews, has been left out of the squad because of his calf injury and sent back to home. Due to the same problem, he could not play in the recently concluded Commonwealth Bank series in Australia. It is yet to know who will replace him.

Angelo Mathews had to go through some fitness tests and failed to prove his fitness for the tournament. That is why, selectors decided to send him back home.

The exclusion of the Angelo Mathews has come as a big blow for Sri Lanka cricket team. It will be hard to find anyone who can successfully replace this vacant place.

Sri Lanka team came to this tournament without another of their all-rounder, Thisara Perera, who sustained a back injury in the final league match of the CB series and hasn't played any match since then.

The absence of these two all-ronders has put Sri Lanka not only under huge pressure but also left the team short all-rounders. That needed Tillakaratne Dilshan to bowl ten overs in the opening game against India.

The inclusion of pace bowler, Lasith Malinga, is full of uncertainty. It is not sure whether the injured bowler will be selected or not in the main squad. Despite having suffered from injury, he played in the final two matches of the CB series.

Sri Lanka lost their first match against India. If they want to stay in the competition then they will have to win the match against Pakistan.
