Shaminda Eranga named as replacement for Angelo Mathews

After the rule out of all-rounder, Angelo Mathews, Sri Lankan cricket team was put under huge pressure. Selectors were looking for a player who can replace him successfully for the post. Fast-bowling all-rounder, Shaminda Eranga, was named as replacement for the post.

The inclusion of Shaminda Eranga will help to make pace attack stronger and provide a batsman in the lower-order position. It is a big chance for Eranga to prove his worth and permanent his place in the squad.

Shaminda Eranga was named in Sri Lanka’s Test squad against Pakistan in UAE last year. But because of his shoulder injury to his right arm he was left out.

However, he impressed the selectors in his Test debut against Australia at the SSC last year, where he took four wickets for 65.

He was left out of Asia Cup squad due to his calf injury. Because of his absence, Tillakaratne Dilshan had to bowl his quota of ten overs in the opening game against India.

Sri Lanka is already without another all-rounder, Thisara Perera, who sustained back injury and did not play any match since CB series league final.

Now, Sri Lanka will face Pakistan and try their hard to win the match.
