The third edition of the Champions League Twenty20 cricket tournament is going to start from 23rd September 2011 and it will continue till October 9, 2011. This time, India will host the tournament.
One of the famous mobile phone brands, Nokia, has bought the tournament's title sponsorship. Bollywood superstar, Shahrukh Khan, is the face of Nokia Champions League Twenty20 (NCL T20).
ESPN STAR Sports has got the right to broadcast all the matches. They will air the tournament in more than 174 countries around the world. It will be telecast in 18 different international languages across the world which is a record.
Fans can see ten teams competing for one trophy. There will be three from India (Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians), two from Australia (NSW Blues and South Australian Redbacks), and two from South Africa (Cape Cobras and Warriors).
The remaining three teams will be selected through a qualifying round. Six teams from the Caribbean, New Zealand, India, England and Sri Lanka will fight for the main tournament. They will be divided into two groups. Top team from each ground and the next time with highest points will be selected for the main tournament.
There will be 23 matches, including two semi-finals and final. These matches will be played during September-October period. The inaugural match will be played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chevrolet Warriors on September 23.
