Injury ruled Gautam Gambhir out of the CL T20 qualifiers

It seems that Gautam Gambhir will not be able to lead his IPL franchise, Kolkata Knight Riders, in the upcoming Champions League Twenty20 qualifying tournament as he has not fully recovered from the concussion that he sustained during the fourth Test against England at The Oval.

At the time of his absence, KKR team will be lead by veteran South African all-rounder, Jacques Kallis.

According to a Kolkata official, Gambhir has the possibility to be recovered in time for the main tournament which will be started from September 23, 2011.

During India’s fourth Test match against England at The Oval, Gautam Gambhir hurt his head falling on the ground while trying to take a catch of Kevin Pietersen on the third day of the test.

After hurting his head, he was sent home from England earlier this month. He has been consulting a neurologist in New Delhi. His doctor is happy for his progress he has made. He has been advised to start physical training gradually.

It is thought that Gambhir would need one more week to recover and be ready for their probable first game in the main stage on September 25.

Not only Gautam Gambhir, but also KKR team will miss the service of Eoin Morgan and Brad Haddin. Eoin Morgan is suffering from shoulder injury and will go under surgery while Brad Haddin will be playing in Australia’s third Test against Sri Lanka that will be held in Colombo on September 16.
