Kolkata Knight Riders bought young Australian bowler James Pattinson for $100,000

On 9th January 2011, one of the IPL franchises, Kolkata Knight Riders, has bought the young Australian pacer, James Pattinson, for $100,000, which was his base price in the IPL 2011 auction list.

This young fast bowler was bought on the second day of the players’ auction for the fourth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The twenty-year-old player, who currently plays for Victoria, is yet to make his debut for Australia in any format of cricket game.

Recently, James Pattinson has been included in the Prime Minister's XI squad to play England in Canberra next week. He is supposed to replace Mitchell Starc, who will miss Monday's match at Manuka Oval through injury.

James Pattinson has already played four First-class matches. He has very good form in the in the First-class matches. He has taken 12 wickets at an average of 27.33.

James Pattinson is waiting to get call from national selectors. It is perhaps that his inclusion in the KKR team will help him to get chance in the national squad.

Another bowler, who went to Pune for the same price, is South Africa’s Alfonso Thomas. The 33-year-old player has played only one T20 International.

On the other hand, Royal Challengers Bangalore bought two players, Rilee Rossouw and Nuwan Pradeep, for $20,000 each.

Young Aussie all-rounder, Mitchell Marsh, was bought by new IPL franchise, Pune Warriors, for $290,000. Interestingly, his dad, Geoff Marsh, is the coach of this club.

Kochi IPL bought English batsman, Owais Shah, for $200,000. Kochi IPL also bought South African Michael Klinger for $ 75,000 and Hastings for $20,000.
