Faf du Plessis bought by Chennai Super Kings for $120,000

South African player, Faf du Plessis, has got much media attention after being bought by Chennai Super Kings for $120,000 in the post-lunch session on the second day of Indian Premier League auction in Bangalore on Sunday.

He was placed in the IPL 2011 players’ auction with $20000 base price. His price was hiked six times than his base price. Titans all-rounder, Faf du Plessis, is expected to be a key player for his IPL club, Chennai Super Kings.

The 26-year-old player is yet to make his debut in any format of cricket team. He has very good all-rounder performance. He has played 71 first-class matches where he scored 3560 including 4 hundreds and 26 half-centuries with an average of 33.58.

Faf du Plessis can be used as alternative bowler. In his 71 first-class matches, he has taken 32 wickets. He will be a key player for CSK.

Uncapped, Faf du Plessis, has been called up in the South African squad for the five-match ODI series against India. He is supposed to replace veteran all-rounder, Jacques Kallis, who wasn’t considered because of an injury sustained to his rib during the current Test series. Jacques Kallis has been restored for the upcoming World Cup 2011.

It is obviously a big chance for Faf du Plessis to prove his talent.
