The Australia vs South Korea match is surely going to be one of the most important and exciting matches of AFC Asian Cup 2011. The match will kick off or start at 16:15 local time and 13:15 GMT on 14 January 2011. It is a match of Group C and both the teams have played one match each.
On 10th January, Australia defeated India by 4-0 while South Korea defeated Bahrain by 2-1. So, as far as the opening matches are concerned, Australia has surely performed better than South Korea. However, we have to remember that had a much tougher opponent in Bahrain than Australia had to deal with India.
India is one of the weakest teams in this entire tournament and we would not have become shocked if Australia could even score eight goals in that match.

Korea are now becoming an exporter of players, too. Eleven of this Asian Cup squad play overseas - in Japan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, England, Scotland and Germany. The best known are Park Ji-sung (Manchester United), Lee Chung-yong (Bolton), Cha Du-ri and Ki Sung-yueng (Glasgow Celtic) while promising teenager Son Heung-min is at Hamburg in the Bundesliga. Defender Lee Young-pyo had a spell with Tottenham.
Australian players should remember that tomorrow’s match is entirely different matter and South Korea is one of the hot favorites of Asian Cup 2011 just like Australia is. In fact, I will not get surprised if we can see these two teams in the final match of the tournament. The match will take place in Al Gharafa Stadium at Doha. You can watch the match live in STAR Sports TV channel if you are living in Asia. Many websites will provide live score of the match and we hope to do the same thing here in this Blog. Here, we like to remind you that we provided live score of the match between Australia and India just the other day.
According to some experts, midfield will be the important place and the team who better in the midfield will have better chance of winning the match. Both the two teams have some players playing in Europe and especially in English Premier League. We can safely say that the win that will win the match tomorrow will go to the next round as the winner of the group. Winning tomorrow’s match is important for both the teams because whoever win will perhaps become group champion and then in quarterfinal they will have much easier opponent. We know that the group champion in the group stage will take on group runners-up in the quarterfinals.
South Korean coach, Cho Kwang-Rae, is hopeful that his team can play very well. He understands that his players are shorter than the average of Australian footballers. Naturally, the Australian football team will have advantage in air. However, I think that South Korean players are very good in speed. They have been playing in World Cup football for many years and they have always impressed the opponent teams with their speed and good team work.
Yahoo Sport wrote:
South Korea were impressive against Bahrain in their opening 2-1 victory but face a far stiffer task when they play the best ranked side in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) on Friday.
"I have emphasised the importance of the organisation in the defensive areas especially the flanks to stop the crosses," Cho told reporters on Thursday.
"Even if we are a bit shorter than the Australian guys it is important to get the right timing and positioning for the aerial ball."
After a disappointing tournament debut four years ago following confident predictions, Australia have been keen to play down expectations in Qatar.
Australian fans are hoping that will become the winner of Asian Cup 2011. South Korean fans have the same expectations. So, I am predicting that a very intense and competitive match will take place tomorrow.
Who do you think will win the match?
