Laptop theft is becoming a growing problem in many parts of the world. The use of laptop is growing rapidly and data theft is increasing too. Often, we find media headlines about laptop data theft. So, laptop makers are now busy with adding more and more security features. TOSHIBA CORPORATION (TYO:6502) has come up with an interesting security feature for some of its models. The feature is face recognition. That means that the laptop will understand its real owner through a webcam image.
First, you will have to identify some of your images through a webcam and then each time you want to login to your laptop you can do it with your face. Even, you can adjust the laptop on a frequent basis so that it can recognize you when you have beard or a clean shave.
This sounds funny and Toshiba has said that it is more for fun than a serious security feature. Anyway, it reflects the trend that laptop makers trying to come up with new security features.
