World Cup Football 2006 in Mobile Phone

Written by: Biplob Kishore Deb
Can you imagine that you are at work in your office and watching world cup match even though there is no television? No, I am not joking with you. I also became astonished after reading an article titled “World Cup Mobile TV- will anyone be watching?” written by Jan Libbenga. He wrote that mobile TV can be launched in the twelve venues of this world cup.

One of the biggest electronic companies in the world, Samsung Electronics has made terrestrial multimedia broadcasting (T-DMB) phone earlier this year, mainly, for the commercial use but they have not started marketing their product hoping to get the license of launching it in the world cup in Germany.

Other DMB phone makers expect that this service will have a great demand during the world cup 2006. Debitel, the biggest German GSM service provider, and Dusseldorf-based Company Mobiles Fernsehen Deutschland GmbH are interested to launch this service in the next world cup. In this service viewers will enjoy German channels ZDF, N24, MTV and a comedy and entertainment channel German Satellite Broadcaster ProSieben. Viewers have to pay €9.90 a month after the completion of the games.

Now football fans have nothing but waiting to see whether mobile TV will be available during the world cup 2006.
