China: Devastating drought looming over the economy

China is more famous for floods than drought. However, this year, it is drought that catching all the media attention in China. The city dwellers in Chinese capital Beijing are suffering the worst condition in the last 50 years as the rainfall is too low compared to average. However, it is the farmers who have been affected most by the on going drought. Supply of drinking water is a big problem in many parts of China now. The farmers are also suffering to get the necessary amount of water for their farming.

The economic impact of drought may be devastating as in the rural areas people depend on agriculture for their livelihood. Hopefully, the Chinese government will come forward to support the farmers affected by the drought. Neighboring Pakistan is suffering from severe drought too.
