Vaio
Corp. has launched its first Android-based smartphone in Japan on Friday. The
company is hoping to get some share in the mid-range smartphone market.
This
new phone comes with a 5-inch display and a 13-megapixel camera. It has the
company’s logo on both sides of the phone. It will run on Google’s Android 5.0
operating system.
As
the phone
is developed in partnership with Japan Communications, the telecom service
provider, it will be found available here. It is priced at Y51,000 ($420). The
telecom company is expecting to earn Y4 billion revenue during the first five
months.
Vaio,
which was sold by Sony, is thought to be biggest rival for Sony in Japan.
