Smartphone accessory will test for HIV

With the advancement of time, technology is also developing. Now, technology has reached to a height that with the help of a device, sexually transmitted diseases like HIV and syphilis can be checked. Such type of device has been developed by a team of researchers from Columbia University. This device can be plugged into a smartphone and used to quickly test for HIV and syphilis. It takes just 15 minutes for the mobile device to test for three infectious-disease markers by using a finger-prick of blood, and draws all the power it needs from the smartphone.
It will cost $34 to make. Though the accessory is cheap in price, it is capable of replicating tests done in a laboratory using equipment that costs a lot of money.

It will be a very useful accessory in remote and impoverished areas where there is hardly any medical facilities. It is expected that millions of lives in rural areas will be saved by this small but effective smartphone accessory.
