Serena Williams wins 19th grand slam title beating Maria Sharapova

The top-seeded tennis player, Serena Williams, has won 19th grand slam title in her career after beating second-ranked Maria Sharapova 6-3 7-6 (5) in the Australian Open final. This latest achievement has put her behind Steffi Graf, who claimed 22 grand slam titles. There is no doubt that she will try her level best to level or surpass Graf’s record.
It was Williams’ 16th successive victory against her Russian rival. However, Sharapova did not leave any stone unturned to make the match competitive from beginning to end. Though she was suffering from fever and cough all this week, nothing could stop her from winning another grand slam title.

It was her sixth title at Melbourne Park. With this victory, she maintained her record of never losing at Melbourne Park in a semifinal or final.
