Apple is leading the smartphone market in China

According to data firm, Canalys, Apple Inc has emerged as the number one smartphone company in China in the fourth quarter, overtaking Samsung Electronics Co Ltd and home-based companies such as Xiaomi for the first time. The America-based company shipped the most number of smartphones in the last quarter of the fiscal year.

Despite being the costlier than most handsets, Apple’s iPhone 6 and 6 Plus have become popular in Asia. According to Canalys’ analysts, the reason behind Apple’s success in China is its large screen and LTE trends.

The report said South Korean company, Samsung, slipped down to the third spot. According to Counterpoint, the Hong Kong-based market research company, Apple could manage to hold a record 33 percent market share in South Korea.
