Indian bowlers rise in the Reliance ICC Test Player Rankings

The latest Reliance ICC Test Player Rankings was announced on Tuesday, one day after India beating England by 95 runs in the second Investec Test match at Lord’s.
Thanks to their historic win in the second Test at Lord’s after 28 years, some young players have moved up in the rankings. Ishant Sharma who became ‘Man of the Match’ for taking his career best 7/74 in the second innings has jumped three places and secured 20th position.
Ravichandran Ashwin is the highest ranked Indian bowler with taking 11th position. He is followed by P.P. Ojha who has claimed the 12th position.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar who got six wickets in the first innings of the second Test match has seen 12 places improvement to 34th position. Ravindra Jadeja has been ranked 28th position. South African speed star Dale Steyn is ruling the list with top position.

Not only bowlers but also batsmen have seen the improvement in the list. Murali Vijay who scored 24 and 95 in the second Test has risen 11 places to claim his career best ranking of 19th position and become the third Indian batsman behind Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli to make places in to the top 20. Cheteshwar Pujara is in 8th position while Virat Kohli has been ranked 14th position. AB de Villiers of South Africa has become the top ranked Test batsman followed by Kumara Sangakkara and David Warner who has respectively been ranked second and third position.
