Suchitra Sen passed away on Friday aged 82

Millions of fans around the world are now mourning for the death of legendary Bengali actress Suchitra Sen. This 82-year-old actress breathed her last on Friday at the Bellevue hospital in Kolkata, where she was admitted more than three weeks ago for treatment of a respiratory tract infection. Suchitra Sen’s death news has been confirmed by her daughter Moon Moon Sen.
Suchitra Sen after making her appearance on silver screen in 1952 acted in 57 Bengali and several Hindi language films. Her most notable Bengali films are Agnipariksha, Devdas and Saat Paake Bandha. In 1955, she made her debut in Bollywood with the film Devdas, where she was cast opposite Dilip Kumar, another legendary actor.
She retired from films in 1978 and since then she did not come in front of those who were not his family members. For her role in Saat Paake Bandha, she won the best actress award at the 1963 Moscow film festival and became the first Bengali actress to be honored at an international film festival. Even she was given Padma Shri award by the Indian government in 1972.

This beautiful actress got married with Dibanath Sen in 1947 before starting her acting career. Her husband died in the early 1970s.
