Salman Khan has emerged as the winner in the race of popularity on Facebook

Internet has become the most important medium to increase publicity and fan following. Almost all the top Bollywood stars have been competing against each other for getting more followers or supporters on Internet.
Salman Khan has defeated his arch-rival, Shah Rukh Khan, in the race of popularity on the social networking site Facebook. The eternal bachelor has 12 million followers on his Facebook page while King Khan has only 5 million followers.
In the popularity race, he has also beaten Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan, who have 8 million and 5 million followers respectively. Not only that but also he has become the most searched Bollywood celebrity online, as per the cumulative data gathered from Google, YouTube and TOI in 2013.
It is really interesting to see that without making any single release in 2013, the Jai Ho actor has ruled online and social networking websites. It may be due to the recently concluded reality show Bigg Boss 7 that Salman Khan hosted on weekends. He was criticized after being accused of biased towards a few contestants. It seems that negative publicity has worked for him.

Apart from the reality show, Salman Khan has been creating a buzz doing publicity in the internet space for his upcoming movie Jai Ho, which is slated to be released on January 24.
