Afghanistan
has become the fifth cricket team joining Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri
Lanka in the Asia Cup, which is slated to be held in Bangladesh between
February 25 and March 7. A total of 11 matches will be played.
The
decision of inviting
Afghanistan to take part in this ODI-based tournament has been taken by the
executive board of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) after a meeting in Colombo.
For
the first time, they are going to participate in a major One-Day International
tournament which will help them to be prepared for the 2014 ICC Twenty20 World
Cup and ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 tournaments.
The
Asia Cup 2014 broadcast rights has been given to STAR India Pvt Ltd.
