Bangladeshi all-rounder, Shakib
Al Hasan, and hard hitter opening batsman, Tamim Iqbal, are not given
permission to take part in the IPL during Bangladesh cricket team’s Zimbabwe tour.
Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim
Iqbal are the only two players from Bangladesh who are connected with the league. For their
participation, they have not yet asked NOCs (No Objection Certificates) from
the board. Shakib and Tamim play for Kolkata Knight Riders and Pune Warriors
respectively. The decision taken by BCB will allow the players to play only
four IPL matches.
Bangladesh’s Zimbabwe tour schedule clashes with the IPL schedule. Bangladesh’s tour of Zimbabwe is scheduled to commence on April 13 and it will
continue till May 12. On the other hand, IPL is scheduled between April 3 and
May 26.
Their interest of playing
in the IPL again raises the club versus country debate. It shows that players
are interested in making quick money. Players are not allowed to take part in
any kind of tournament when an international series is going on.
If they are given
permission to choose club instead of country then most of the players will loss
their interest of playing for the nation.
