Tablet PC is becoming popular day by day in India. Its
popularity has extended from students to business personalities. Because of its
growing popularity, sales of tablet computers have increased a lot. It is
expected that the sales margin of tablet computers will reach double to 6
million in 2013. It is the third year of growth for the market.
A number of Indian companies launched low-cost
devices running on Google Inc’s Android operating system and because of
that sales of tablets and smartphones have grown rapidly in the last two years.
It is also thought that new tablets that will be made based
on Windows 8 operating system and companies' adoption of tablets for business
applications will change the market significantly in 2013.
India is the second biggest market in the world. It has the flourishing
middle class people who can afford modern technology. Thanks to low-cost
devices, poor class people can buy devices like tablet PC.
According to CyberMedia Research, in the July-September
quarter last year in India, Samsung is leading the tablet PC market with 23.9
percent share. Local firm Micromax comes second with 15.3 percent of the
market. Datawind, who made the world’s cheapest tablet computer, Aakash, is
ranked third. Apple’s iPad is ranked fifth with an 8.7 percent share.
