Gautam Gambhir is the probable alternative to Mahendra Singh Dhoni for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2012

It looks like that Indian cricket board has got the most probable captain as an alternative to Mahendra Singh Dhoni ahead of the T20 World Cup 2012. It is no other than the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper, Gautam Gambhir, who has come at the centre of media attention for his sensitive leadership after successfully leading his team all the way to the title in the fifth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
It is known to all that Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Chennai Super Kings by 5-wicket at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai and claimed their maiden IPL trophy. No doubt, with this victory Gambhir won the hearts of millions of Kolkata fans. What astonished the cricket fans is his leadership skill. He perfectly guided his IPL club to the title win.
Another important reason that has increased the possibility of Gambhir to become the captain of national side is Dhoni’s inconsistent performance at the international level. It seems that Dhoni is facing the shortage of ideas to guide his team in all three formats of cricket game- Test, ODI and T20.
It will be very difficult for the selectors to select Gambhir as captain instead of Dhoni. Most of the selectors should want to go with Dhoni, but Gambhir could bring freshness in leadership and perhaps can help the Indian cricket team to get back the T20 World Cup again.
The T20 World Cup 2012 is slated to be played in Sri Lanka in September.
