Geoff Marsh kicked out as Sri Lanka cricket coach

Geoff Marsh has been sacked as the head coach of Sri Lanka cricket after the national team’s poor performance against South Africa. He has been replaced by South African Graham Ford. Marsh did not say anything about his discharge.

He was sacked four months in to his two-year contract. He was kicked out from his post after Tillakaratne Dilshan quit his captaincy on Monday and Mahela Jayawardene was chosen as the captain for the ongoing triangular ODI series including India and Australia.

Graham Ford is going to be the fourth coach since Trevor Bayliss took retirement from his post after the World Cup final in April 2011.

After Trevor Bayliss’s retirement, Stuart Law was selected as the coach for the England series. He quit the post to coach Bangladesh. After him, Sri Lankan pace bowler Rumesh Ratnayake was chosen coach for the home series against Australia and he was replaced by Marsh.

Ford was the head coach of the Durban-based franchise, Dolphins. He left his job last week. It is going to be a big challenge for him as Sri Lanka’s recent performance in home and away is not satisfactory.

Let’s see if he can guide Sri Lanka cricket team to be a power in the cricket world.
