Reliance announces 3G Tab for Indian consumers

With a price tag of Rs 12,999, one of the leading mobile phone companies in India, Reliance, announced its first tablet PC, 3G Tab, manufactured by ZTE. Since making its official announcement, it has been getting much media publicity across India.

The 3G Tab has caught the attention for its cheap rate. It looks like Samsung’s 7-inch Galaxy Tab. At first look, consumers may make a mistake thinking it as the Galaxy Tab. However, it is no way comparable with high-end tablets like the iPad 2, XOOM and Galaxy Tab. So, let’s see if it can make a place for itself in the Indian market.

Despite its low price, Tab 3G is much better than other ultra low cost Android tablets found available in market. The 7-inch tablet PC has a WVGA display which supports 800×480 pixels. It also has 512 MB of RAM, an 800 MHz processor and dual cameras.

For a low-end tablet PC, touchscreen interface is a big concern. It seems that users will not have to face such a problem in this device. May be its touchscreen interface will not be as smooth as like an iPad or a Motorola/Samsung, but it will be much better than any other low-priced tablet device.

It will be running on Google’s Gingerbread (Android 2.3.4). It comes with slightly customized UI. It also includes Wi-Fi hotspot feature and it will give long battery life.
