LeapPad tablet PC: A children Tablet PC from LeapFrog

LeapFrog on Tuesday made the announcement of its new device, LeapPad tablet PC. This tablet PC is made based on children.

The price tag of LeapPad tablet PC will be $100, which is much cheaper and parents can gift this device to their little kids.

LeapPad tablet PC is thought to be an effective device for kids. Sometimes kids want to play game or take photos in iPad or Motorola Xoom. For kids, these devices are not easy to use. They may unlock the device.

LeapPad tablet PC has a 5-inch touchscreen which supports 480 x 272 pixels. It is covered with tough plastic. It will help the device to protect it from peanut butter laden fingers.

It has both still and video camera. It also sports a microphone and 2GB of memory.

LeapPad will come with a number of child-friendly apps and educational games available, such as Disney Animation Studio. There will be more than 100 downloadable apps and LeapFrog cartridges, price ranging from $5 to $25.

Perhaps, the biggest disadvantage of this device is the lacking of wi-fi. Users will have to tether with a Windows or Mac computer in order to download and share.

This device is targeted to those kids who are 4 to 9 years of age. It is expected to ship on August 15. Pre-order will start taking on June 29.
