Porto vs Braga Europa League final: Competition between two Portuguese clubs

Two Portuguese clubs Porto and Braga will face each other in the final of the Europa League on May 18 in Dublin. Clinching victories in the semi-final round, both the clubs made sure their place for the final competition. Now, they are just one victory away to get the title.

Braga beat Benfica while Porto beat Villarreal to get their place in the final round. It was a tough journey for Braga. Despite losing the first-leg 2-1, they could move towards the final round with 1-0 victory in the second half at home to beat the two-time European champion.

Custodio Castro scored the only goal in the 19th minute from a corner kick. This goal helped the team tied the home-and-home, total-goals series 2-2, but their 1-0 away goal played the vital role to make them one of the final contestants.

Porto made their final birth easier with a 5-1 first-leg home victory over Villarreal. So, their 3-2 defeat in the second leg in Spain did not affect that much.

For Porto, Radamel Falcao scored 16 goals in this tournament. It was a new record that was belong to former Tottenham and Germany striker Jurgen Klinsmann for 15 years. Jurgen Klinsmann scored 15 goals for Bayern Munich.

Since 2008-09, the tournament was known as the UEFA Cup.
