India won the 2nd ODI match to level the series 1-1

The second ODI match between India and South Africa was a nail-biting one. Touring team, India, sealed their 1 run victory over South Africa at the New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on Saturday night.

Winning the match after a tough competition, India leveled the 5-match ODI series 1-1. Fans of both teams at least could see a closely contested match between these two strong teams. Even, this victory was unimaginable for many of Indian fans.

India’s defeat in the second ODI match was almost sure, but it seems that luck favored them at the end. Because of their thumping 135 runs defeat in the 1st ODI match, India went to play the second ODI match as non-favorite team.

The host needed just 6 runs in 48 balls with 2 wickets remaining in hand. Captain called Munaf Patel to bowl the 43rd overs. After coming to bowl his 8th overs, he picked the last two wickets of Parnell and Morne Morkel to secure the victory.

Indian skipper, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, won the toss and elected to bat first. Losing all ten wickets, the Men in Blue scored a modest total of 190 runs in 47.2 overs. Indian batsmen had to struggle to play in the pace condition. Except Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni, neither of the batsmen could play a big inning for their team. Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni respectively scored 53 and 38 runs.

For South Africa it was not a tough chasing score and it was expected that they would reach the target early. But it didn’t happen at the end as they were bundled out for 189 runs in 43 overs. Graeme Smith scored the highest 77 runs for his team.

Indian bowler Munaf Patel made the impossible thing possible. He picked four wickets to lead India to a victory. He picked the wickets of Graeme Smith, Hashim Amla, Wayne Parnell and Morne Morkel.

Munaf Patel was supported by Zaheer Khan, who picked two wickets in this match. Munaf Patel was named player of the match.
