Daniel Christian: The big buy on the second day of the IPL 2011 players’ auction

On the second day of the IPL 2011 auction, Australian all-rounder, Daniel Christian, became the first big buy after he was bought with an astounding price of $900,000 by Deccan Chargers.

On the other hand, veteran Sri Lankan player, Sanath Jayasuriya, remained unsold. He didn’t get any takers on the second day of the players’ auctions for the fourth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The price hike of Daniel Christian obviously surprised the other foreign players who went unsold in another quiet day. He was placed in an IPL auction list with $50,000 base price, but later it was hiked 18 times more. There were no other players stayed closed in the race of bidding.

The twenty-seven-year-old New South Wales player has played only three T20 internationals for Australia. He is yet to make his debut in Test and ODI cricket. He is mainly a fast bowler who can support his team with the bat in the lower order position.

He has caught the attention of all media for his big buy. It is expected that he will play an important role for Deccan Chargers.

Deccan Chargers owner, Gayathri Reddy, believes that Daniel Christian is a good buy. He is a good fast bowler with a batting talent. He is also a brilliant fielder.

With a strike rate of over 140, Daniel Christian has a good all-rounder record in T20 cricket.
