The 56th Filmfare Awards will be shown live on Sony Sony Television

The most prestigious and one of the oldest award giving events for Hindi films in India, Filmfare Awards, is going to organize its 56th annual ceremony on 29 January 2011. It will be hosted by Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan Pair. It will be held at the Yash Raj Studios in Mumbai.

It is the second time that both Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan will be playing the role of anchor and make the audience laugh with showing their sense of humor skill.

Vikramaditya Motwane directed ‘Udaan’ got the highest amount of awards. This film bagged eight awards in different categories including Best Supporting Actor (Male), Best Film (Critics), Best Story, Cinematography, Screenplay, Best Background Music and Best Sound Design Award.

Well-established actors in B Town city fought against each other for the best actor award. However, King Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, bet all of them to bag the title for his film, ‘My Name Is Khan’ while his co-star Kajol won the best actress award for the same film. This film also helped Karan Johar to get the best director award.

Maneesh Sharma was awarded as the best debut director for his ‘Band Baaja Baraat’. Gulzar walked away with the best lyrics award for “Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji” in ‘Ishqiya’.

However, the best film award went to Salman Khan featuring Dabangg.

Vidya Balan was voted by the jury for the best actress award for her manipulative role in ‘Ishqiya’ while Kareena Kapoor was awarded for the best supporting actress for her ‘We Are Family’ film.

Sunidhi Chauhan shared the Best Playback Singer (Female) award along with Mamta Sharma. Mamta Sharma got this award for her “Munni Badnaam Hui”. Sunidhi Chauhan was selected for item song “Sheila Ki Jawani”.

Manna Dey received the lifetime achievement award. Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, was paid tribute for her forty years in Hindi cinema. He received the award from Shah Rukh Khan.

Shah Rukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit pleased the audience with showing their performance on the stage.
