Virender Sehwag has been left out from the ODI squad

Shoulder injury has forced Virender Sehwag not to be included in the one-day squad that will play against the host team South Africa in the 5-match ODI series.

However, he has been included in the series deciding third test match against South Africa that will kick off from January 2, 2010 at the Newlands, Cape Town.

Virender Sehwag is the most important part of Indian batting line up. Without him, fans cannot expect to see full strength Indian cricket team. His injury should put the Indian cricket team under huge pressure. But it is obviously good news for the host team.

He will be replaced by Rohit Sharma for the one-dayers. On the other hand, Murali Vijay has been added as the squad’s 17th player.

It seems that shoulder injury has become a big threat for Virender Sehwag as he has already missed the two previous Twenty20 World Cups due to the same problems.

Indian selectors will have to shuffle to batting line up due to the absence of Sehwag. It is thought that Gautam Gambhir will make open with Sachin Tendulkar.

What makes me surprise is that if Sehwag is injured then how does he play in the third test match?

The five-match ODI series between South Africa and India will start from 12th January 2010. It is the last ODI series for Indian cricket team before the start of World Cup 2011.
