Shinjuku Piccadilly Cinema Complex will install Sharp LB-1085 LCD display

Earlier, I wrote about Sharp Electronics Corporation (TYO:6753) planning to ship its 108-inch LB-1085 LCD display from next month. Well, the company is now going to introduce the largest LCD display of the world into Japan. The monitor will be sold to various business organizations. The new monitor will be installed at the Shinjuku Piccadilly Cinema Complex. Sharp Electronics is going to make serious efforts to bring in orders and expand sales in the global market. PR Inside.com reports:

This unit features a widescreen 108V-inch Advanced Super View LCD panel, the maximum size that a single 8th-generation glass substrate (2,160 x 2,460 mm) manufactured at Kameyama Plant No. 2 can yield. The large display area is nearly equivalent in size to two tatami mats (approx. 3.2 m2) and can convey images to many people in wide interior spaces. Plus, a rich assortment of inputs, including HDMI and DVI-I connectors, provides greater connectivity with a wide variety of equipment and devices, and a fan-less design that minimizes noise and intake of dust from outside air further improves its level of technical sophistication as a commercial display.

Shinjuku Piccadilly Cinema Complex, which will be opened on 19th July 2008, is going to be the largest of its kind in Tokyo. Built under the concept of “pure-white theatre,” the 10-screen cinema complex has a huge open-ceiling foyer extending from the 1st floor to the 3rd floor. The Sharp LB-1085 LCD display will be installed at the center of the main-lobby at the third-floor facing this foyer.
