On Friday, Taiwan-based computer maker, Acer, launched its sleek and light weighed tablet PC, Iconia A1, in New York City. This new tablet PC sports a 7.9-inch IPS LED-backlit screen with 768x1024p display resolutions. It also has a pixel density of 162 ppi (pixels per inch). It runs on Android mobile OS v4.2.2 Jelly Bean and powered by MediaTek based Quad-core processor with 1.2GHz CPU speed. It has 1GB of RAM.
This tablet PC comes in two variants- 8GB and 16GB and their storage capacity can be expanded via micro-SD card. These models will have 5.0-megapixel rear facing camera with auto-focus and VGA camera in front side.
While speaking at the launching event, Sumit Agnihotry, vice president of product marketing, Acer America, said, “Tablets are becoming cherished companions to many people as they stay connected and entertained throughout their day.”
Along with Iconia A1 Acer also launched ultrabook series Aspire R7 and Aspire P3 as well as Aspire V series touch notebooks.

Acer plans to launch 7-inch $99 Tablet

It has been reported that the Taiwan-based Company, Acer, is going to make a $99 tablet PC. Perhaps this new tablet PC will be named Iconia B1. It is supposed to come in early 2013. According to The Wall Street Journal, this cheaper tablet PC will be based on Android operating system.
It will come with a 7-inch screen that will be supported by 1,024-by-600 resolution, and a 1.2-GHz dual-core processor. Users may find its specifications similar to the Kindle Fire or Nook Color.
This low-priced tablet PC is obviously going to be a big threat for other tablet PCs. It seems that Internet giant Google is also joining in this low-priced tablet segment by introducing a $99 version of its Android-based Nexus 7 tablet PC next year. Google’s plan to introduce a cheap rated tablet PC came to an attention after a report out of Taiwan last week.
Acer debuted pocket-sized Iconia A110 tablet PC in fall this year. It runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and priced $230.
