Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib
Al Hasan has picked up his 200th ODI wicket in the third ODI against
South
Africa
on Wednesday (15 July 205 ). With this achievement, he has entered into the
elite club of all-rounder. He has become one of the seven players who have
scored 4000 runs and taken 200 wickets, a double, in ODI cricket format.
Shakib Al Hasan has achieved
the rare feat playing the lowest number of matches- 156. He is just behind Sri Lanka ’s Sanath Jayasuriya (323), South Africa ’s Jacques Kallis (273), Pakistan ’s Shahid Afridi (395) and Abdul Razzaq (269), and New Zealand ’s Chris Cairns (201). However, he is above New Zealand ’s Chris Harris by run but is two wickets away from
him.
When Shakib started the
third ODI against the Proteas, he had 198 wickets on his tally. He joined the ‘double’
club taking the wickets of Faf du Plessis and Hashim Amla in the first spell,
and then crossed it by taking the wicket of Farhaan Behardien.
Another Bangladeshi player
who also reached the 200-wicket milestone is Mashrafe Moratza.
