Bangladesh’s first centurion Ahsan Zaheer dies of heart attack

The death news of Ahsan Zaheer has come as a shock to cricket lovers of Bangladesh. This former Bangladeshi cricket player breathed his last at the age of 60 in Birdem Hospital in Dhaka.
Ahsan Zaheer will be remembered as Bangladesh’s first centurion in competitive cricket. Scoring hundred for Barisal DSA against Comilia DSA in the three-day final of the National Cricket Championship in 1975, he became the first centurion of the country.
He made his appearance in a very few Dhaka clubs. Among them Abahani and Mohammedan Sporting Clubs were most reputed. He took retirement from competitive cricket in 1985.

He had his own business and was also known as television expert and was involved with Surjo Tarun Club in this season’s Dhaka First Division Cricket League.
