The
Madhya Pradesh fast bowler, Ishwar Pandey, has caught the media attention after
getting a maiden call-up to the Indian Test squad. This squad has been
announced for the upcoming Test series against New Zealand in February.
He
has become one
of the three uncapped players along with Karnataka all-rounder, Stuart
Binny, and Jharkhand quick, Varun Aaron, being picked in the ODI squad. Experienced
players like Yuvraj Singh and Pragyan Ojha have been left out from ODI and Test
squad.
Ishwar
Pandey performed very well and in the 2012-13 Ranji Trophy and taking 48
wickets at 21.06 became the leading wicket-taker. He has also remained helpful taking
30 wickets at 24.76 in eight games this season, including his career-best
innings figure of 8 for 84 against Railways in Indore.
He
gets advantage because of his tall physique. He uses his height to get good
bounce rather than getting a good length.
