Windows 8 Tablet PCs take 7.5% global market share in Q1 2013

According to research firm, Strategy Analytics, Microsoft and its partners have made a significant impact in the tablet PC market. Based on operating system (OS) market share, Windows 8 tablet PCs including Windows RT secured a 7.5% share of the global tablet market in the first quarter of 2013.
In Q1 2013, 3.4 million units were shipped worldwide by the PC makers which accounted for 7.5 percent market share. In the same time last year, Windows based tablet PCs could not make a good start in this rapidly increasing market.
It is thought that shipment of the Windows 8 tablet devices could have increased but due to its limited distribution, shortage of top tier apps, and confusion in the market it did not happen.
It is nice to see that Microsoft’s Windows 8 tablet PC made a strong hold in the market share. Very soon they may compete with top companies like Apple and Samsung.
