Virender Sehwag gets call in ODI squad

India’s hard hitter opening batsman, Virender Sehwag, has been included in the ODI squad that will play against arch-rival Pakistan in a 3-match ODI series starting from December 30 in Chennai. However, Zaheer Khan, who is the most experienced bowler in the Indian cricket team, has not been selected for the high-profile series.
After meeting with captain MS Dhoni and Coach Duncan Fletcher at the BCCI headquarters, selectors have replaced allrounder Irfan Pathan, fast bowler Umesh Yadav and middle-order batsman Manoj Tiwary. The reason of not being selected in the squad was their injury. Now, they are recovering from their injuries. Their positions have been replaced by Yuvraj Singh, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ishant Sharma, Shami Ahmed and Amit Mishra.
The Uttar Pradesh all-rounder, Bhuvneshwar, and the Bengal seamer, Shami, are two new faces in the squad who have made their place in the squad showing their consistent performances on the domestic circuit and India A tours.
It is the right time for Virender Sehwag to prove his talent. Because of his poor form in CB series in Australia, he was dropped from the Asia Cup in March this year. Zaheer Khan has been restored for the upcoming Test series against Australia in February.
The absence of Sachin Tendulkar will be a big blow for the Indian cricket team. Their form in the home ground is also not good. They experienced defeat at the hands of England.
Now, let us see if India can defeat Pakistan and improve their ODI ranking.
