The death news of Tony Greig
has come as a great shock for millions of cricket lovers. Cricket fans will not
see him anymore doing commentary. He was just 66-year-old when he breathed his
last.
This legendary commentator
died of cardiac arrest in ST Vincent’s hospital. When he was taken to hospital from his
home in the morning between 10 and 11am, his condition was critical and he had no hope of recovery.
He was diagnosed with lung
cancer two months before his death. He was suffering from this incurable
disease. Even, he went under surgery later in November.
The South Africa-born Tony
Greig was the former England cricket captain. Between 1972 and 1977, he played 58
Tests for England. After that he joined the Australian media magnate
Kerry Packer's breakaway World Series.
Later he became a popular
commentator and had worked for Nine Network. Cricket fans pay tribute to him. May
God rest his soul in peace.
