BCCI announces Rs 20 lakh as cash prize for U-19 World Cup winner


Indian cricket fans are very happy for the achievement of the young cricketers. It should be known to all that the Indian cricket team won the Under-19 World Cup trophy third time by beating the defending champion Australia in Townsville. Because of their victory, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday announced a cash prize of Rs 20 lakh each for the winning team members.
There is no doubt that the team was poured with many congratulatory notes and blessings from millions of fans. N Srinivasan, BCCI President, congratulated the team also.
Skipper Unmukt Chand was the hero of the final match. He led his team to a victory with an unbeaten century. He remained not out on 111 which helped his team to get a six-wicket victory against Australia.
Srinivasan said in a statement, “Many congratulations to the Indian team for winning the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. We won the 'senior' World Cup last year, and now our boys have triumphed in the junior version of the tournament. This is a great day for Indian cricket. The Board would like to announce a cash prize of Rs 20 lakh to each player, and Rs 15 lakh to each member of the support staff.”
This is the third time the Indian cricket team won the ICC Under-19 World Cup title, but before Mohammad Kaif and Virat Kohli captained their teams to victory in 2000 and 2008 editions respectively.
