India defeats Sri Lanka by 4 wickets at CB ODI Series

India’s first victory in the Commonwealth Bank ODI Series came against Sri Lanka. They defeated Sri Lanka by four wickets at Perth in Australia today.

After coming to chase the required target of 234 runs, India reached the milestone in 46.4 overs. It was not an easy task for them to get victory as the winning team lost six wickets within 181 runs.

Tailenders Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin showed their patience to guide India towards victory. They remained not out and scored 24 and 30 respectively.

Sachin Tendulkar played well. He was short of two runs from half-century. Virat Kohli was the highest run scorer for his team. He scored 77 of 94 balls, including eight boundaries and a six.

Winning the toss, Sri Lanka captain chose to bat first. In their allotted over, they scored 233 for the loss of eight wickets. Dinesh Chandimal became the top run holder scoring 64 runs from 81 balls, including four boundaries.

Indian bowlers did well and they were able to keep their opponent team to a decent total.

India will next face Australia on 12 February (Sunday) at the Adelaide Oval. It will kick off at 03:20 GMT and 08:50 Indian Standard Time (IST).
