Harbhajan Singh has been dropped from the 1st Test against West Indies

Cricket fans may have come to know that the Indian selectors have already announced a 15-man squad without naming off-spinner, Harbhajan Singh.

Harbhajan Singh failed to make his place in the Indian squad that was announced for the first Test against West Indian beginning on November 6 in New Delhi.

However, Harbhajan was also not picked in the ODI squad against England in home. Instead of him, selectors have picked three spinners- Pragyan Ojha, Ravichandran Ashwin and Rahul Sharma. Among them, only Pragyan Ojha has the experience to play in the Test format of cricket game. So, there will be a tough contest between Ravichandran Ashwin and Rahul Sharma to make Test debut.

Harbhajan Singh, who had taken 400 Test wickets earlier this year, has been going through a tough time. He has been passing formless career for the last few seasons. He was dropped because of his bad performance. It was his first drop from India’s Test squad since 2007.

His performance in England was not satisfactory. He took two wickets in the first two Tests. However, he had to return back to India midway through with a strain in his abdomen and was replaced by Amit Mishra for the last two Tests in England. He is now two matches short of 100 Tests.

It is expected that Harbhajan Singh will be picked for the last two Tests. His experience will help team India to keep dominance over West Indies.
