England defends the No. 1 position in T20 cricket with a 6-wicket victory against India

England cricket team won the lone T20 international match against India by 6 wickets with 8 balls remaining at hand. This match was played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

This victory helped the reigning world Twenty20 champions defend their world No. 1 ranking in Twenty20 cricket. It also helped the tourists finished a tough tour of India with a victory.

Winning the toss, Indian skipper, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, chose to bat first on a slow pitch. In their limited over, they scored 120 for the loss of 9 wickets.

Suresh Raina scored the highest run for team India. He scored 39 off 29 balls where he hit two sixes and four boundaries. Dhoni scored 21 runs from 26 balls before being run out off the final delivery.

Dhoni made partnership with Ravichandran Ashwin in the ninth-wicket stand and added 25 runs in the last two overs. Ravichandran Ashwin remained not out on 17.

English fast bowler, Steven Finn, got 3 wickets for 22 in 4 overs while Tim Bresnan and Ravi Bopara claimed two wickets each and Samit Patel got one wicket to set up an emphatic win.

In reply, the England cricket team chased down a 121 run target in 18.4 overs. Kevin Pietersen led his team towards victory scoring 53 off 39 balls.

However, result could have been worse for the tourists or it could go in favor of Indian cricket team if Pietersen was not dropped on one by Suresh Raina.

However, Pietersen and Samit Patel contributed 60 runs for the third wicket stand after England lost two wickets by the seventh over with the score at 40.

Graeme Swann led the England cricket team in the absence of injured Twenty20 skipper Stuart Broad. He is happy for the success of his team.

Yusuf Pathan, Ravindra Jadeja, Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina took one wicket each.
