Pune Warriors signs Sourav Ganguly

Former Indian captain, Sourav Ganguly, is on the way to make his comeback in the fourth season of the IPL with making a one year contact with Pune Warriors. He will replace injured Ashish Nehra for the remaining of this year’s Indian Premier League. After Sourav Ganguly hiked his base price from $200,000 to $400,000, neither of the franchises paid interest to buy him and he is an IPL lifeline to the batsman after he remained unsold.

Sourav Ganguly will be the deputy of Yuvraj Singh and he has the highest probability to be the part of the Pune Warriors squad in the match against Mumbai Indians that will take place at the Wankhede Stadium on May 4.

Pune’s team director, Abhijit Sarkar, thinks that Sourav Ganguly’s inclusion in the Pune Warriors will help the club to increase its strength. No doubt, Ganguly is an experienced batsman and his experience will lead the team in a right way.

He played for Kolkata Knight Riders in the last three seasons and was the captain of this club in two of them, while Brendon McCullum was named captain for the other. In the last three seasons, Kolkata performed poorly and never became successful to make its entrance in the semi-finals.

Pune Warriors is one of the two new franchises of the IPL. Their performance in the ongoing tournament is not good and they are taking the lowest position at present.
