India levels the series 1-1 with 87-run victory

Despite losing the first test match in an innings and huge run margin at Centurion, Indian cricket team made their strong come back in the three match test series with a 87-run victory over the host team in the second test at Kingsmead on Wednesday. This victory helped the touring team to level the series 1-1.

After the end of their second innings, India could manage to give South Africa chase 303 runs to clinch the series victory. South Africa started the fourth day with 111 for 3 and they were short of 192 runs to win the series.

Thanks to Indian bowlers, Proteas could not reach the chasing target. The loss of some early wickets left the host team in desperate trouble. However, they could be able to score 215 runs after losing all wickets.

Except AB de Villiers and Ashwell Prince, no one could make any resistance against Indian bowlers. They scored respectively 33 and 39 runs.

Cheteshwar Pujara ran out Lonwabo Tsotsobe and ensured India’s victory in South Africa. It was India’s second victory in 14 tests in South Africa. This victory also helps India to keep their top position in the ICC Test ranking and at the same time, it ensures that they will not lose their position even if they don’t win the third and final test match.

Both Sreesanth and Zaheer Khan took three wickets each while Harbhajan Singh took two wickets.

However, in this bowler-dominated match, VVS Laxman was awarded the player of the match for his match savior 96-run innings. It helped his team to score 228 in the second innings.
