China Takes Backseat in WTO Negotiation

India and China was expected to lead the developing counties in the ongoing WTO where leaders of developing countries are taking part to talk about various trade related issues. However, according to one source, China has not taken any strong move in WTO, even though India, Brazil and South Africa are leading from the front.

PTI News reported:

"China has not taken any specific position...but the developing countries need to court Beijing for striking a good deal and ensuring a market access for them without opening the floodgates for the rich nations," he said.

India and China have tension in border related issues. Still, developing nations are expecting the two neighboring countries to work hand in hand in the WTO negotiations.
